I ordered a Beauty Advent Calendar from Beautiful Christmas NZ this year (they also do 12-days of Christmas ones, as well as a Foodie Box). It arrived in mid-November and I had to hide it so that I wouldn’t open it before 1 December! With this advent calendar you get to open a gift every day from the 1st December until Christmas Day; there are 25 little parcels of individually packaged goodies, some are full sized, some are luxury or travel-sized samples and others are single use sachets.
All the gifts in the Beautiful Christmas advent calendar are from ethical, cruelty-free, New Zealand companies, so by purchasing one of these calendars, you’re not only supporting local beauty companies, you’re also supporting a local entrepreneur who puts all the beautiful goodies together.
The daily surprises are individually packaged and numbered in recyclable, brown paper bags with a little Christmassy embellishment on them. All the brown bags are then packed into a large black cardboard box and tied shut with string. I chose not to untie mine until 1 December and that was when I discovered the little “pre-opening gift” that was left on top (for those who couldn’t wait and untied their box as soon as it arrived in mid-November). The pre-opening gift was a sample of some deliciously relaxing Zepar “Rose & Lavender” tea. Very yummy!
Onto the daily calendar goodies. If you missed my day-by-day photo unboxing that was done on my Facebook page, you can always pop over there and have a look. Photos of all the goodies are in an album called Advent Calendar 2016 and are also listed below.
I will eventually get around to doing individual product reviews for most of these on my blog and will then link the posts to each product name below. If the name is in colour, it’ll be a link for you to click on, so keep checking back here.

For those of you who are wondering, I paid $100 for the Advent Calendar and the value of the goodies received (excluding the few single use sachets) came to $290, based on the current cost of full sized items (or a pro-rata value based on cost per ml for the luxury samples). Plus, I got to try a whole lot of ‘new’ brands and products without having to commit to purchasing full sized items, and I had the joy of opening a gift every morning for 25 days!
If you enjoy trying new beauty products and need a little help getting into the Christmas spirit, I’d definitely recommend getting one of these boxes! If you’d prefer a smaller box, Beautiful Christmas do a 12 Days of Christmas Box, which begins on the 25th December and has gifts for the next 12 days. They also do a Foodie Box, for those who’d prefer edible gifts instead of cosmetics.
