As summer is here, my naturally oily skin finds night creams to be too rich during these warmer months, so I thought I’d give The Body Shop Seaweed Oil-Control Overnight Gel a try, instead of a rich cream.
The clear gel is designed for combination to oily skin, and is enriched with mineral-rich seaweed from Roaring Water Bay in Ireland. Its packaged in a 30ml airtight pump action bottle with a turquoise coloured plastic base and black plastic pump and cap. I find that one full pump is enough to do my face, neck and décolleté, and I soon realised that even though it’s a small bottle, a little of this gel goes a long way!
The consistency of the gel holds its shape when it comes out the pump, but starts to “melt” when it comes into contact with body heat and it turns into a water-like consistency when it’s being applied. It is very easily absorbed and leaves a matte, shine-free finish. It has an unusual but not unpleasant scent that is hard to describe; its a clean, fresh scent that reminds me of cucumber and honey.
The splurb on the packaging reads “Oil free light gel treatment that hydrates dry areas and controls excess sebum while you sleep. Leaves skin hydrated, soft, fresh and balanced. Avoid eye area“.
I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and my naturally oily skin does feel hydrated and less oily when I wake up in the morning.
The Body Shop Seaweed Oil-Control Overnight Gel is available from The Body Shop stores or online.
