I received a little cinnamon coloured heart-shaped sample of Ethique Gingersnap in the Ethique Face Sampler box, which contains five minis from their face care range.
Gingersnap is made with kokum butter, brown sugar, ginger and a hint of cinnamon, to gently buff away old skin cells, while leaving a light layer of moisture behind, so it doesn’t completely strip your skin while exfoliating. Gingersnap is the perfect facial scrub for use on all skin types, and is a great cleanser as well as exfoliator, so you don’t have to use two separate products if you don’t want to.
To use Gingersnap, you simply wet your face and the bar, buff the bar onto your face, then put the bar down and gently massage your face until the sugar dissolves before rinsing any residue off. Personally, I found Gingersnap to be extremely gentle. It’s probably the most gentle facial exfoliator I’ve ever come across, yet it is highly effective. It really didn’t feel like I was getting a good skin scrub from Gingersnap, yet after I’d used it and the sugar had dissolved, and I’d rinsed any residue off my face, my skin felt extremely soft and smooth. So smooth in fact, that I was really surprised at how well this gentle exfoliating scrub worked. It was quite amazing.
The gingerbread scent of Gingersnap was lovely, and made using the product really nice, but I’m honestly torn by this scrub. While I can’t really find any faults with the actual product, I just feel that it’s almost too gentle. When I’m exfoliating or using a scrub, I want to feel like I’m using a scrub, not applying something that feels like a gentle cleanser to my face, only to be surprised at how smooth my skin feels afterwards. I don’t know, that’s just me and my way of thinking, but this does mean that Gingersnap really is suitable for all skin types.
