A single Essentially Tamara “Invigorate” shower bomb was the Day 6 gift in the 2019 Beautiful Surprises Advent Calendar, and this was the first time I’d ever used a shower bomb.
“Invigorate”, is an orange coloured shower bomb that gives off a lovely citrus scent before the packaging is even opened. These shower bombs are vegan-friendly, cruelty free, not tested on animals, and contain recyclable or biodegradable packaging,
To use the shower bomb, I simply unwrapped the outer paper wrapping, but then I wasn’t really sure if it needed to be taken out of the oxo-biodegradable plastic inner wrapper, or if it was like a dishwasher tablet where you left the wrapper on. To test it out, I wet my finger under the tap and dribbled a few drops of water onto the plastic wrapper to see if anything would happen. Nope, the plastic wrapper needs to be removed, too. Unwrap your shower bomb completely before placing it on the floor of the shower where the water can easily reach it. Warm water spray will activate it and the shower bomb will start to fizz and dissolve, releasing the beautiful essential oils and fragrances into the steam. Simply breathe in all the relaxing goodness while you shower.
We have a Shower Dome on our shower and I was really worried that the scent of the shower bomb was going to get trapped in there and be really overpowering, but that was not the case. Even with the Shower Dome the “Invigorate” shower bomb was very pleasant to use. To be honest, I was almost a little disappointed with “Invigorate”. I felt that the scent wasn’t all that strong, but I really didn’t want to write off Essentially Tamara’s Shower Bombs based on one single use. I like to try a product at least three or four times before deciding what I think of a product. So, I ordered a custom box of “Clarity” and “Breathe” shower bombs (see list of scents and benefits below), as I tend to suffer from blocked sinuses due to allergies, and frequent headaches because of the blocked sinuses.
It turns out that experimentation is the key to getting the most out of these shower bombs. With the “Invigorate” shower bomb, I had placed it off to the side of the shower where it would still get wet but where I wouldn’t accidentally stand on it. After using a few of these shower bombs, I discovered that the best place to put the shower bomb is directly between my feet, near the shower drain (about 5cm to 10cm away from the drain). I find if I put it too far off to the side I don’t get all the benefits of the shower bomb, and by having it between my feet the steam rises straight upwards, carrying all the essential oils and fragrances straight to my nose, where it’s needed most.
Essentially Tamara Shower Bombs are artisan crafted, meaning they’re individually and lovingly made by hand, and they’re available in two different box sizes (five per box or 10 per box), with two scent ranges to choose from (Signature scents or Botanical scents).
The Signature Collection scents are:
- Invigorate (orange) – Wonderful citrus scents to start your morning off with a zing.
- Serenity (lilac) – Calming lavender to help you settle for a peaceful night’s sleep.
- Breathe (white) – Concentrated menthol to ease congestion caused by colds and allergies.
- Relax (yellow) – Just what your muscles need to unwind after a hard workout.
- Clarity (green) – Soothing and calming relief for headaches and migraines.
The Botanical Collection scents are:
- Peony (peach) – A delicate blend of soft peony blooms nestled on a heart of sandalwood and musk. This soft, feminine aroma is a beautiful combination of classic floral scents.
- Frangipani (light yellow) – A fresh honeysuckle blend with hints of jasmine, rose and lilac.
- Jasmine (white) – The exotic blend of freshly cut jasmine flowers.
- Rose (pink) – The classic country garden essence of delicate, dew-covered rose petals.
- Lavender (lilac) – Beautifully relaxing lavender with a touch of ylang-ylang and geranium.
As with any cosmetic or beauty product, a sensitivity test needs to be done, and these shower bombs are no different. If you suffer from asthma or have a sensitivity to fragrances, please use these shower bombs with caution, as essential oils or menthol may be a trigger for some users (especially in asthmatics).
Essentially Tamara Shower Bombs are also available in custom boxes. To order a custom box, simply place your online order for one of the boxes mentioned above, and then leave a message in the comments box, stating which shower bombs you’d prefer. For example, I ordered a box of 10 from the Signature Collection, and instead of getting two of each scent (per the standard box), I requested five green “Clarity” bombs and five white “Breathe” bombs to make up my custom box, and I’m glad I did. The “Breathe” ones definitely help to clear a stuffy nose, while “Clarity” ones are my favorite out of the three scents that I’ve tried so far.
