A sample of Ethique’s Coconut & Lime Butter Block was included in the Ethique Body Sampler box set, along with little heart-shaped samples of their Sweet Orange & Vanilla Creme Body Wash Bar, Lime & Ginger Body Polish (scrub), Glow Solid Deodorant in Lavender & Vanilla, and a randomly selected foaming body wash bar.
The Coconut & Lime Butter Block is made with 100% pure essential oils, organic cocoa butter, organic coconut oil, with no added artificial fragrances, and it doesn’t really have much of a scent, the coconut and lime is really very subtle and hardly even noticeable I did find this body butter bar to be quite difficult to hold and not very easy to use, as it warms up and becomes greasy and slippery while attempting to apply it. I did find it to be moisturizing, although it did leave a rather greasy residue on my legs (I only used this product on my legs), and the same residue had to be washed off of hands with soap after I’d finished applying it to my body.
I won’t be purchasing a full sized block of this body butter, purely because I really didn’t like the greasy, buttery feel of the product. It literally felt like I was smearing actual butter onto my skin, and the slipperiness of the bar made it really hard to handle and apply. I did drop the bar onto the bathroom floor numerous times during application, which is not ideal as it does dent, collect fluff (if it lands on a towel) and eventually cracked and broke when got small enough and was dropped often enough.
If you’d like to try this body butter bar without committing to a full sized bar, the Ethique Body Sampler box is a great way to do this. Ethique products are available online or from selected Life Pharmacies.
Update: As of June 2019, Ethique began the process of reformulating all of their bars, so the new bar’s formula may be quite different to the old one that I reviewed above.
