According to the pamphlet in the box, Jemma Kidd Firming I-Creme Duo is a “Silky cashmere-like creme to powder shadow with age defying benefits for everyday wear with intense metallic, non crease, dry-creme allowing you to create definition and glamour”.
I’ve never been a fan of creme-to-powder products, but decided to give this product a try and got #03 in Tweed. It comes in a sleek, matte black box with red writing and a pamphlet with instructions. The same matte design is on the make-up compact and once the compact is opened, it reveals the two creme eye shadows and a decent sized mirror (no applicator or mini brush).
I applied the product according to the instructions in the box, starting with a cleansed eye area and using a brush to lightly apply a little of the product to my lid, working upwards from the lash line and blending towards the crease. First I tried the eye shadow without using a primer, as I wanted to see what it would do and wanted to have something to compare to when using a primer. Without a primer, the eye shadow creased and looked shiny and oily on my lids.
Over the next two days, I experimented with two different primers (Yardley Line Minimizer and NYX HD eye shadow base) unfortunately, the eye shadow creased with both primers and still left my eyelids looking oily. I tried using the eye shadow one more time, still using the NYX eye shadow base and once the shadow had been applied and blended, I dusted a light layer of loose powder over the shadow to set it. This time it did not crease and my lids were left looking a little less shiny and not oily at all. I was able to wear the eye shadow all day without it creasing.
Having to use a light dusting of powder is not really ideal, as this defeats the purpose of using a creme-to-powder formulation. You’d be much better off just using a powder eye shadow from the start. Personally, I would not recommend this product to anyone, as it does not deliver on the “non-crease” statement in their package insert and does not dry completely to a powder finish, it remains slightly creamy which could be why it creases so easily.
