The sheer, subtle hint of colour gives my cheeks a beautiful, slightly flushed look and leaves my lips ever-so-lightly stained. Don’t be surprised by the colour when it first comes out of the tube, it’ll be a dark raspberry red. Use sparingly, as little goes a long way and it will end up being a pretty, rosy pink colour once it’s applied. Bear in mind that this is a stain, so it doesn’t provide much moisture on your lips. If you do have dry lips or want something more moisturising, top it off with a lip gloss or a lip balm. You could even use it under a red or deep pink lipstick. This will give your lipstick more depth of colour and will ensure that there is still colour on your lips if your lipstick does happen to fade during the day.
Gel products need to be applied directly onto clean, moisturised skin or on top of cream or liquid foundation (before you powder) and cannot be applied on top of powder or liquid-to-powder foundations. The trick to applying this product is to lightly pat a little onto your cheeks with your fingertips, don’t rub, working quite quickly before it dries. If you want a little more colour, wait a minute or two before applying more colour over the first layer, patting it on again and blending the edges. The same applies to your lips, dab a little on and then rub your lips together to blend and spread it, before allowing it to dry.
With gel products it can sometimes be difficult to build up colour. If you’re wanting more that just a slightly flushed look you might be better off using a powder or cream blusher (see “Beautiful Blusher: Powder, Cream or Gel?“).
This is a great product to use if you’re heading out to the beach for the day or spending the day outdoors and don’t want to look like you’re wearing a whole lot of make-up. A little BB Cream, a touch of Cheek & Lip Tint on cheeks and lips, complete your look with a light coat of mascara and you’re good to go!
I would recommend this product to teenage girls, ladies in their early twenties and anyone with problem skin, as gel products are water-based and don’t clog pores (this minimises the risk of a breakout). Ladies who don’t like to wear a lot of make-up but want a subtle hint of colour would also enjoy this dual purpose product.
By the looks of things, Model Co. Cheek & Lip Tint only comes in one colour, “Rosy Red”. There is one small thing that I don’t like about this product: it does stain your fingertips. It is designed as a stain and stain it does! At least you know it works. You could use a cotton bud (Q-Tip) to apply it to your lips, but the best way to apply it to your cheeks is with your fingertips. A sponge or brush could be used, but it may take a little practice to get the blending perfect.
