I purchased two of Moisture Mist’s Powdery Foundation Refills in “Iced Ginger” (as well as a Translucent Face Powder refill) recently, as all Moisture Mist products were on a buy two, get one free sale at my local Farmers store, due to all Moisture Mist products being discontinued at the end of 2019.
I was hoping to use the Powdery Foundation refill in my beautiful limited edition Fantail compact case from a Moisture Mist Beauty Cake that I bought a few years ago, but sadly, the pan sizes are different. Very sneaky, Sheseido! When I mentioned this to the sales consultant the next time I went in store, she was really surprised, as she said she also assumed that all the compacts and refill pans across the range would be the same size. Unfortunately not. The Powdery Foundation refill pans are about half a centimeter bigger in diameter than the Beauty Cake refill pans, so the products are not interchangeable between the compacts. I still want to keep and use my beautiful Fantail compact, so will be keeping an eye out for a compact powder refill pan that may fit into this compact.
Moisture Mist Powdery foundation has the ease and convenience of foundation and powder all-in-one. It helps to even out skin tone, minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines, while giving medium to full coverage without looking cakey. It’s applied with a dry sponge and has a long-lasting, soft matte finish, which is perfect for my naturally oily skin.
Moisture Mist Powdery Foundation is available (while stocks last) in five shades, and does contain talc, mica, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are both sunscreen ingredients which can cause a whitish glow or white flashback in flash photography.
Sadly, I discovered most of Moisture Mist’s products too late (in the months leading up to the discontinuation of the range), but it’ll be interesting to see what new products Shiseido bring out to replace this range.
