A sample size of Oasis Straight Up Serum was in the Goodie Bag that I ordered from Oasis. Their Goodie Bags are funky, retro-looking cosmetic bags that contain mini samples of all their products and are perfect for travelling or if you just want to try their products out before purchasing full-sized items.
I’ve used serums in the past, but was a little skeptical about this one as it is an oil and I have oily skin. But then I remembered how well the Oil Cleansing Method works for me and gave it a go anyway.
This serum contains Hazelnut and Calendula to lightly moisturise the skin without making it oily; Vitamins A, C & E to improve skin cell turnover, fight free radicals and heal and repair skin damage; Rosemary to reduce puffiness and calm inflamed breakouts; Tea Tree and Manuka to help heal blemishes and control oiliness and Jasmine to help tone greasy, sensitive and irritated skin.
I began using this serum a week before my brother’s wedding and I’d been battling for 4 weeks with a sudden acne breakout over my cheeks and nothing seemed to be helping. I had nothing to lose and wasn’t really expecting any miracles, but wow!, this serum really does work. By the end of the first week my skin was clear and blemish free, just in time for the family wedding photoshoot!
Even thought it’s an oil, it’s non-greasy and is absorbed quickly into the skin. I found that 4 drops from the little sample bottle was sufficient to do both my face and neck and the subtle jasmine fragrance is beautiful.
I only applied the serum at night and did this by placing 4 drops into the palm of one hand before gently rubbing my hands together before patting the oil over my face and neck. I gently massaged the warmed oil into my face and neck until all of it was absorbed and my skin felt soft, relaxed and hydrated. I chose not to apply a moisturiser on top as the serum was sufficient for my oily skin, but I did apply an eye cream. If you have dry or combination skin, a night cream or moisturiser can be applied on top of the serum.
Be careful about using oil-based serums in the morning, as applying an oil to your face can promote sun damage. If you do choose to use it in the morning, make sure to apply a good quality sunscreen on top.
If you feel oily after applying Oasis Straight Up Serum, you’re probably using too much. Blot lightly with a tissue to remove any excess and try using less the next time you apply it.
